It consists of a tube 100cm long, 25mm dia mounted on a stand which is fitted with
leveling screws. The lower end of the rubber tubing provided is connected to the 500ml glass reservoir which slides
on a
metal rod and can be raised or lowered for adjusting the length of column of air. It is used to measure the
velocity of sound
waves in air at room temperature by using a tuning fork.
